Make Pom-Poms From Your Felt Scraps!

Felt Pom-Poms

See what great things can come out of not being wasteful? I just couldn’t bear to throw away all those tiny colorful scraps, and then it came to me, make pom-poms, of course!

I tried two pom-pom making methods and the results were quite similar, so I’d say take the simplest route:

  1. Cut small strips of felt, the same width and fairly close in length. You’ll need a nice fat pile. Tie them together tightly as possible in the middle with string or strong thread. Fluff and separate with your fingers, and then give your pom pom a haircut to make him look his best!
  2. The more laborious way to make a pom-pom is to make a long string of felt by gluing together all your scraps, winding that string around your fingers, and then removing and tying in the middle. Cut open loops, fluff pom pom and give him a much needed hair cut.

What should you do with these pom-poms? Tie them on door handles, hang from doorways, use as present toppers or simply toss them around and have fun.

Thanks for this very easy tutorial. I’ll be making these for my son’s birthday decoration.
