Moroccan Painted Furniture Inspiration

Moroccan painted tables 3

Morroccan painted furniture caught my eye this week on a little visit to my favorite Moroccan store in Chatzor HaGlilit. The store is huge and packed with Morroccan items of all kinds, so one can get a bit ovewhelmed, as I did on my first few visits. This time I was completely surprised by the bold beauty of the painted furniture, so I thought I’d share it with you, as one could certainly do something similar!

Here’s a close-up of a little table, a design that one could easily adapt to any side table.

And one can certainly go a little in the pastel/country direction with Moroccan, as with these mint green tables, which I just love.

Oh, and look at these little cabinets, this black one would fit into the mostly white house of my dreams….

One could also paint just the doors of a cabinet like this if the total painted look is too busy, right?

Love this intense green version with the hints of pink! Inspired? I know I certainly am, and a painted furntiure piece like one of these could be a wonderful additional to any home, especially in a child’s room for those who prefer to keep the main areas of the home a bit more neutral. Do let me know if you try this yourself!

Oh how I love painted furniture like this! I always see the fake stuff here in the US and as much as I like them, they aren’t half as nice as this lot. Makes me want to break out my paint brush!

I think you are so right about just painting the front of cabinet like this, otherwise it can be a bit busy looking. Definitely a great way to conceal a plethora of flaws on old furniture too.

Hi Alissa, It really just depends on whether something really busy works for you. In a very austere/empty room one cabinet like this balanced with color in other places could be great. Or conversely in a small place, like an entry way, as a focal point it could be great too…….
I sure would love to give this a try myself, and am hoping maybe a reader will beat me to it!

Hi, I’m going to be in Israel soon. Can you tell me what the address is of the Moroccan furniture store in Hatzor Haglitit? I have never been to this area so I need the cross streets.

Hi Devorah, Sorry dont have the exact address, but when you make a left hand turn off the freeway into Chatzor HaGlilit, (coming from Rosh Pina, the South) you go straight until you get to the first intersection. Turn right, and then make either the first or second right into a deadend street. The store is at the end of the street. It is called Fantasia Moroccai, and is in the industrial section of Chatzor HaGlilit. You can always call information once in Israel if you really need the address, though my directions will get you there! all the best and enjoy!

Thank you so much for this colorful, Moroccan blog. What is the exact name of the store. What city is it located. I live in Netanya. I will be moving into a brand new apt next Sept, and this store, I am sure, will be a favorite spot.

    `Hi, Sara Rivka
Are you still in Jerusalem? Do you paint on furniture? I’m an artist in the Shfela who used to do decorative painting on every kind of surface, but I’m older now and am not up for it. I have a client in Jerusalem who wants Moroccan style patterns on a custom cabinet. Can we talk?
