Dutch Style – Joyful Color and Design From The Netherlands

Dutch cute store in Amsterdam

A sweet little store across the street from the Anne Frank House museum

Wooden shoes, tulips, windmills, cheese…..these are the things that most people associate with Holland, though of course there’s so much more! After my recent trip to The Netherlands, where I stayed in Amsterdam for ten wonderful days, I’ve put together a little collection of photos to show you the joyful aspects of everyday Dutch design that I noticed.

Dutch cuteness wooden shoes

A traditional design painted on wooden shoes.

Dutch cute blue canal houseboat

A modern style house boat in bright colors.

Dutch cute pink bike

A pink bicycle.

Dutch cute dutch door

A Dutch door painted in a lovely color combination, the entrance to a historic windmill.

Dutch cute enamel ware store

Love the enamel ware, mostly made in Poland (the quality pieces) or China, for sale at a great store just off the outdoor market.

Dutch cute delft wall tiles

Trademark Dutch blue and white Delftware patterns, love the bird cage found on tiles on a fireplace surround.

Dutch cute bikebags

Fun bike bags everywhere.

Dutch cute pip studios mugs

Mugs with patterns by Pip Studios, a really fun Dutch company that sells great housewares and wall paper, with a distinctive modern Dutch cottage style.

Dutch cute signs

Love the old signs.

Dutch cute heart graffiti

Even the graffiti (I’m assuming that’s what this is…..) was artful and very rare! And this artwork beautifully expresses how I feel about the Dutch aesthetic, love it!

Thanks so much Lisa, I want to go back too! More photos to come or windmills and countryside architecture, just taking a little break with them!

Delft is the city of my daydreams. The Saturday flea market, in season is the answer to a collector’s heart. And the small potteries are a delight. As are the cafes and candy shops. And the people are welcoming.
i hope to go back, but memories are keeping me happy at the moment. Thanks for the charming pictures.

Hello Sara, I’m from Poland and I work with my dad in his company Enamel Signs Poland. The enamel signs I see on your photo are from our production 🙂 I am surprised that you know they are made in Poland ! regards 🙂

Hi Tamara, I happen to love enamel, so while I dont remember exactly, i do know that I went into the store and I must have looked on the bottom of all the pieces to see where they were made! all the best!
