Crocheted Star Fish Washcloth

Crocheted Starfish washcloth

If you ask me, I’d say there’s something really really luxurious about the idea of a hand crocheted washcloth, so a set of these simple star fish washcloths (with some shell shaped soaps?) would be a perfect gift this summer. You know, for those friends who have generously offered to host you at their beach house? I can dream can’t I? And of course, do whip up some for yourself, I mean who can resist? I clearly couldn’t when I saw the pattern from Lion Brand here. Note: I made my washcloth smaller than the pattern suggests by simply omiting the last few rows, so don’t be shy to make the size that you prefer! And in fact if you’d rather make a dishcloth, so just add some rows, and if you just keep on going you could make a pillow or a baby blanket, or even a rug, how about that?

And while I don’t generally love space dyed yarn, I do think it’s fun in this case, And this little wash cloth was a great stash buster! I used one strand of space dyed cotton together with a strand of light blue, the two strands together equal something like worsted weight.

And for those of you readers who are starting to wonder if this blog is becoming a crocheting blog, well the only solution my friends is to learn to crochet! The perfect summer craft, I might add!

Oh, and I almost forgot, I made some other crocheted washcloths in the past that are also simple and beautiful, check out that crocheted washcloth project too!

Crocheting is so much fun! If only I had more room for yarn!

Glad to hear you crochet! I think trying to use up what you have on hand is also a good way to go, plus i dont know about you, but the yarn selection here is very limited, so that keeps my crocheting in check…..
The basic acrylic yarn at 10 shekels looks terrible after a while, so now Im trying something from the US for a blanket in progress, since after all the effort I sure want it to last!

Youre very welcome, this is a good one! I just realized that I forgot to mention that I made mine smaller than called for in the pattern, since I like washcloths to be small…….gotta go add that to the post! thanks to you I realized this!

I love to crochet. Right now I just know the basics and do mostly granny square. Would love to learn the other things to do .
My mother brings me yarn from the US..

If you can crochet a granny square, so you can crochet just about anything worth crocheting!

Love your version ! I have two questions if you don’t mind:
What colors did you use? you mention a space dyed and a light blue-just
want to try it with the same ones you used- it’s beautiful !!
And, I saw some comments on the Lion brand site about changing the pattern a little bit- did you make any changes other than skipping the last few rows ?
    Thanks very much !

Thanks so much! I used a very ilght dusty blue, and a variegated (space dyed) yarn that was a mix of bright aqua/peacock blue, grey, creme, and steely green!
Both were cotton, baby weight. I followed the pattern exactly except for omitting the last few rows. All the best!

Thanks ! Would there be a chance you’d recall the manufacturer? I’ve looked around online but didn’t see anything. Can you tell I LOVE your version ? Thanks !
