Recycled Soda Bottle Flowers For The Sukkah!

Sukkot starts Wednesday night and I am busy making recycled soda bottle flowers! This year my recycled plastic bottle flowers are blooming in a bunch of bright colors thanks to tissue paper, and I’m planning on hanging them strung vertically in three long strands over the center of our table….of course there’s an outer ring at the top as well, though it’s all still in my head, so thought I’d share the first stage with you, as I’m so happy with how the flowers came out.

And of course, if you like you can nest them as well, though for my project I need a ton, so won’t be doing that, but if one is making a bouquet with far fewer flowers, one certainly could stack them as I’ve shown here. Check out my plastic bottle flower bouquet tutorial to get some tips.

You’ll Need:

• recycled soda bottles
• white glue or decoupage medium
• tissue paper

How To: Using slightly diluted white glue adhere strips of tissue paper to the top portion of almost any kind of plastic drink bottle that you’ve cut into a closed flower (crocus?) shape. Let the strips go beyond the edges and trim after completely dry.

You can use these flowers to make fun bouquets, or hang them as decorations, I think they look great hanging out on this tray, and would be great nested in a basket as a centerpiece as well. Enjoy!
