Crocheted Lampshade: Simple Crocheted Trim Transforms A Basic Lamp

Crocheted Lamp Shade Trim

A simple white lamp shade is transformed into an adorable decorative accent with the addition of some simple mini granny square crocheted trim! This crocheted lampshade trim project is the perfect way to add some color to any room, and to have fun crocheting with color combinations that you love. Not to mention that it is a great way to use up left overs, and would make a great holiday gift that has a touch of handmade that can be made in an evening.

You can choose to sew your trim to the lampshade, or apply just a few tiny dots of hot glue so that the trim can be easily removed in case you want to use the lamp in another location.

Crocheted Mini Granny Square Trim

You’ll Need:

  • cotton yarn, lightweight
  • a 3.5mm crochet hook

How To:

Crochet anough 2 row granny squares to  go around the perimeter of your lamp shade. Better to be a little short than too long.

Round 1: Attach the granny squares to one another with a row of single crochet, and make a circle by slip stitching in the first stitch.

Round 2: In a second color, crochet a row of sc.

Round 3: In a third color, crochet a row of hdc.

For Top Trim:

Rpund 1: Crochet a chain that fits tightly around the top of the lamp shade.

Round 2: Crochet a row of dc around

Round 3: Crochet a row of sc

Round 4: Crochet a row of sc

Round 5: Crochet of row of shell stitch.

And of course, my pattern is just a suggestion, have fun making up your own crocheted trim to suit your lamp shade. And have fun practicing some new stitches!
