Crocheting a stool cover with commercial t-shirt yarn is one of my all time favorite projects. It goes really quickly, and the results are wonderful! (Okay, I'll admit, these are not my favorite colors, but am trying to use up everything I have....a few years back t-shirt yarn was scarce in Israel so I bought whatever colors I found!) Plus, because the t-shirt yarn is stretchy, the cover can be made to fit exactly on your stool, like a shower cap of sorts, whereas stool covers made with regular yarn do generally need a draw string in order for the cover to sit tightly on the stool.
This pattern only takes seven rounds to cover the top of the stool, so making two covers, or even enough to go around a table is totally realistic, so get some stools and some t-shirt yarn and lets create something fabulous!
- commercial t-shirt yarn, or homemade t-shirt yarn (resutls won't be quite as crisp if made from actual t-shirts, but give it a try if you like)
- size 10mm hook

Use any crochet medallion pattern (this one will be posted tomorrow, though you can certainly come up with your own!) that you like to made a flat circle, and when the circle is slightly less than the size of the stool, crochet the sides, and an extra row to wrap under the bottom, depending on how the legs of your stool are attached. The sides are crocheted by first crocheting a row of half double crochet, and then crocheting in the third loop, which created the look of the yellow row, which stands up. Or you can crochet a row of half double crochet or double crochet (depending on needs for size of stool) and then start the sides by crocheting the next row in the back loop only.
I just realized that I really need to photograph the cover when it is not on the stool so that you can see that it basically looks like a giant beret! Note: I did that, and photo is in post with pattern.
