Dear Readers, at this point if your Succah is not yet decorated, you have a few options:
- Enjoy your Succah in it's pure undecorated state (which many have the custom to do in any case!)
- Stay up all night making decorations (as I have been know to do in the past, but hopefully not this year!)
- Make some quick decorations that I've taught you about in this blog, like paper medallions and paper lanterns. You could fill your Succah with those in not too much time and surprise everyone! I just tried cutting some beautiful silhouettes from metallic gold contact paper, and placed them in a pattern to imitate wall paper or a stenciled design, and it looks great! If you have tile walls like me, or formica covered panels, this could be a great option, just keep the shapes small so that applying them isn't too much of a problem.
- Run to your nearest import store (like Pier 1) and buy a whole bunch of really neat ethnic decorations from places like China, India, Thailand, and Mexico! Look for paper lanterns, colorful fabrics, carved wooden objects, gourd balls, koi fish kites and so much more......
