A few months ago I bought these Chia Pet cousins at the dollar store. We enjoyed seeing our little friends grow hair, and I of course started thinking that we should really try to make our own version of this!
And then lo and behold, a reader shared a wonderful project doing just that (on my Sunday blog linking party) with her own kids! I'm a bit pressed for time today so I though I'd share her project with you, I know you'll like it as much as I did!
Aren't these wonderful? You can get the complete instructions from Stephanie at her site ordinarylifemagic. And by the way, grass seeds are great for making fun Spring centerpieces, or just adding a touch of green here and there! You can grow grass in just about any type of container that is moisture proof. How about beautiful tea cups filled with grass, or a vintage toy dump truck, or an old dresser drawer (for you city folks that could really use a patch of green!)
Just remember to keep the soil moist so that the seeds will sprout, and after the grass starts to grow don't forget to water it! And since all lawns need mowing now and then to look good, you should also give your grass creations a haircut when they get too thin or too unruly! Have fun with this project, and do let me know where your grass is growing greener!
