These crocheted pouches that I posted about as bags for Hanukkah gelt, here, were such a success I just had to make more! A birthday party for my daughter's friend, no problem, let's give her a pouch filled with some small gifts! And a few buttons added to the end of the drawstring are cute and functional...the string wont fall out! I think I even made the one on the right in about an hour, and it not only made my daughter happy and set a good example for giving handmade, it also was satisfying for me and fulfilled some of my need to create!
I don't know whether you noticed, but the bag on the left is significantly larger, and it was a happy mistake. I learned that by simply changing your hook size (namely using an H instead of an F) you can make a much bigger version of the same pattern, assuming your yarn is thick enough. Yes, I did have to add rows to make up for the larger diameter, but I just love the results. It's hard to tell in these photos, but this size would be nice for holding a crocheted washcloth, pattern here, and a lovely bar of soap!
You can find my pattern for the crocheted drawstring pouch here. Make a bunch, and bring joy to your friends and family. There's nothing like handmade gifts, if you can find the time, and I think you really can for these little beauties!
