Crocheted skinny scarves in are style, and guess what? They're not only great accessories that you can whip up quickly with even a half of a ball of yarn, they're also really practical. Wrap one around your neck a few times and you have the warmth of a regular scarf without the bulk! I made this one using Lion Brand cotton as a gift for a friend who only wears cotton clothing, but for myself and my daughter I used up some acrylic balls that were sitting around, and made scarves that were only scalloped on one side, which is a great look too, and 1/3 less work!
You can find this pattern courtesy of JoAnne's here. I just remembered, that the pattern doesn't tell you how to make the scallop portion, so I made a scallop by crocheting into the specified stitch as follows: (1sc, 2hdc, 1dc,2hdc, 1sc)
And while you're at it, I'd say make a bunch to have on hand for great gifts! (And like I always say, if I've made three, that means it's even a great project that you can do while talking to your family over dinner. And if they're busy eating something good, well, they may not even notice!)
