I love Spring, and especially the wild flowers of Israel and blooming fruit trees. I promised you that I'd share photos of the old almond trees in bloom, and here they are in full glory! So very dramatic—huge trees with dark trunks and delicate pink blooms.
I took my three littlest ones on a Rosh Chodesh hike yesterday in a nature preserve walking distance from our home, thinking that we'd enjoy the flowering almond trees. To my great surprise, the spring wild flowers are also blooming!
There's nothing more exciting than the first glimpse of our beloved (and protected) red poppy, which sprouts up all over fields and hillsides. A very lovely sign of spring!
I just love the shape of these tiny wild flowers. The perfect shape for a spring wildflower collage don't you think?
And did you know that cyclamen actually grows wild? Well, it does here, blooming in late winter—emerging with its lovely blooms from cracks in rocks where the bulbs have been sleeping. Simply amazing!
A very wonderful time was had by all. My five year old asked me this morning where we will be going today! I have a feeling we've got lots of hiking in store for us, and as the days get longer some picnicking too. But in the mean time Purim is less than two weeks away and I've got my work cut out for me! I'll be back again soon with more mishloach manot ideas and fun projects for Purim, so stay tuned!
