Ten Plagues Passover Craft: Fun Placards For The Seder!

Ten Plagues Passover Craft Placards

Here’s a fun ten plagues Passover craft that you can make now and use at the Passover seder to create a little bit of excitement and keep the kids involved. Either you can make them as a surprise, or better yet, get the kids involved in the crafting, and they’ll be even more excited. I’ve never actually done a craft for the ten plagues, as I just couldn’t think of anything that seemed right for us……but then I started to think about the plague of lice and how my boys sure would love to see a big louse hopping around at the table, and thus the idea was born to make placards for each of the ten plagues. Here you see the first four in order from left to right: blood, frogs, lice and wild beasts. Stay tuned for the rest possibly tomorrow or the next day!

You’ll Need:

  • wooden craft dowels
  • colored paper
  • recycled cereal box cardboard
  • orange plastic plates (for the lion)
  • long bumpy piper cleaners for the lice legs, frog’s tongue and to attach blood drops
  • a black permanent marker for all the details
  • a hole punch (for the blood drops)
  • double stick tape, to stick it all together!

How To: Each of these placards are double sided with the dowel hidden between the two layers. All the pieces were attached using double stick tape. The blood drop was made by painting cereal box cardboard with a sponge, great for little ones. The frog is fun to make since you use tracings of your hands for the frog legs, and for the louse we actually looked at a photograph of a real louse, and remember to attach the legs before attaching the second layer. The lion is cute made from plates, but of course you could simply use a circle of cardboard and paint it orange, and how about adding some yarn for the mane? Enjoy!

And of course you could also use this idea as super cute spring/summer outdoor party decor, minus the lice and the the blood that is! Stick your placards into the ground or into pots to welcome the guests, or make a centerpiece with them, even in a tall vase. Isn’t it fun to be creative? There’s just no end to to what one can do to turn any occasion into something special and memorable.

Hi! I found your ten plagues coloring page via a random search, but cannot find it again on your site. Some of my students asked me what the picture of the 3 animals standing represented, and I wasn’t sure. They also wondered if the woman with spots on her body represented the boils, and if so where was the picture of the lice. We liked the picture and it went well with the lesson, but did have those questions. Thanks for making it available free of charge.

I love this! So cute. I wanted to ask if I can mention it on my blog. Let me know.

Hi Patti, Of course, feel free to mention it on your blog with a link back to the post, that would be great! I just did a miniature version of this project with a group of boys that Im doing art with as a part of a new non-profit venture called Crafting A Future, and some of the results are really cute, and hope to photograph them tomorrow. So wonderful that you took a trip to Morocco, and had a great time. Havent made it there myself, but will soon, as my husband is Moroccan and was even born there. He finally went back for the first time last summer and had an amazing time. He brought me back practically an entire suitcase of table clothes and caftans and trays and tea pots, my favorite stuff, and and planning to wear one of the aqua caftans for the Passover seder, which will fit right in as last year I bought a huge brass Moroccan seder tray! One more thing, in my right hand side bar you can find the categories, one of which is Jewish Moroccan cooking, in case youd like some simple recipes for some of those delicious salads, or any of the main fare. all the best!

Thanks for the permission. And I will definitely link back. Morocco was amazing and inspiring and even more special to go alone with my son.
