It is with great joy that I can finally share with you the great news that my latest crocheted rag rug from sheets has been completed. Yippee! Crocheting rugs from sheets pillowcases and the like is really so very satisfying— so much so that I can't wait to start the next rug! This rug is for my boy's room and I love the fact that it looks like something from space or sea....an mix between a fiery sun and and the deep blue ocean?
The rug measures about 135 cm across, which is 56.25 inches, which is 4.7 feet, now it's starting to sound like not such a small rug! Actually it happens to be a perfect size for a medium sized or even small bedroom, next to a single bed, or between two beds........two rugs down, two to go!
Details:
- Hook size: 10mm
- Stitch: single crochet
- materials: sheets, comforter covers, pillow cases, you need a ton of them. this rug was made approximately with the following:
- 5 small fitted twin sheets, acrylic
- 1 cotton twin sized comforter cover
- 1 cotton twin sized flat sheet
- 1 cotton full sized flat sheet
- 3 standard pillowcases
So gather your sheets, make yarn as described in my previous posts (I'll provide the links soon, gotta run, life is calling. If you can't wait, search crochet rag rug in my search bar.) and start crocheting. I'm here for any questions! And one last thing, when I placed the completed rug in my boy's room, my eight year old curled up on the rug, a true sign that he appreciated mommy's efforts, which makes all the work worth it!
Note: Though I have photographed my rug outside, I do not recommend using it anywhere where it will be exposed to sun light, as all of your precious work will fade and weaken, which would be sad indeed! Of course these rugs are machine washable, which makes them so very practical! Enjoy.
