If you have a daughter with long hair, that's thinking of cutting her hair, as is my daughter, then you may just want to suggest that she hold out until after Purim! This spooky/funny/altogether head-turning costume idea of course only works with quite long hair, the only question is, what is the costume? Not sure myself.
We don't dress up as things like witches or ghosts, so we'll have to get creative.....any ideas out there? The only thing that's come to me so far is to make it look like she's wearing a tall clown hat by putting a pom pom on the end of her hair and some felt polka dots scattered around. Of course for an older girl that doesn't really want to get dressed up, but wants to do something funny, well this is it! Or maybe we could just put a big bow on the top and she could dress up as a windblown girly girl?
What is the secret you ask? First let me ask you something, have you seen this idea before?
You'll Need:
- a recycled soda bottle, or possibly a plastic bottle that's a bit shorter for those with shorter hair. A small water bottle might even work for a little girl
- paint close to the color of your daughter's hair
- a hair band
How To:
- Paint the plastic bottle a color close to the hair color, and set aside to dry. Of course if your daughter is blessed with a very full head of hair, you may be able to skip this step, just we don't want anyone to easily detect that bottle underneath!
- Place the bottle on top of your daughter's head and then bring all her hair up around the bottle. Secure the hair to the bottle with a hair band, and voila, you've got yourself one very interesting costume idea!
Do let me know if you use this idea, or if you have any ideas how to incorporate this hairstyle into a costume. Hmmm, maybe she could be an upside down ice-cream cone? Maybe I could add in a good colored wig to give the costume more color and more personality and she could be a strawberry ice cream cone. Let's hear those ideas my friends!
