It's almost shabbat here in Israel, though I wanted to quickly share with you the flower shaped challahs that I made today to freeze for Shavous, which is just around the corner! I baked 2 kilos worth of dough, and only need half that for this shabbat, so I decided to have a little fun experimenting with a flower shaped challah that was inspired by a contribution on Craft Schooling Sunday!
I don't have time right now to write out the directions, but I hope that you can figure it out from the photos below. Oh, and try not to get so busy that you forget to take your challahs out of the oven, as I did, whoops, a little on the dark side!
A few more thoughts: the slits in the petals above were made just before I placed the challah in the oven, and the second little challah/roll is an attempt at a rosebud made with a spiral roll and three leaf shapes attached. Have fun and let me know if you come up with some interesting shapes!
