Last week I shared with you my crocheted giant granny baby blanket, and now I'm going to give you what is hopefully enough details so that you can make one too! The blanket is made of four giant granny squares, using Pattern A and Pattern B, which are just color variations of the same design. And then I crocheted a wide border around the joined squares to give the blanket a substantial feeling, and to stretch the little yarn I had to make the biggest blanket possible.
I'm sorry, I didn't measure this blanket before I gifted it, but I'd say it's about 120cm x 120 cm. I used Red Heart super saver acrylic yarn, and a size G hook, though of course you can use any yarn and the appropriate sized hook.
Basic Giant Granny Construction:
Square A:
Rows 1-4 in red
Rows 5-6 in grey
Rows 7-8 in aqua
Rows 9-10 in grey
Rows 11-13 in red
Square B:
Rows 1-4 in aqua
Rows 5-6 in red
Rows 7-8 in grey
Rows 9-10 in aqua
Rows 11-13 in grey
Border Construction For Blanket Of Any Size:
After squares were crocheted together with an invisible join, which isn't laying flat in photo since I didn't block it (sorry you'll have to look that one up) a border was crocheted as follows:
4 rows around in same dc stitch in grey
1 row sc around in red
1 row sc around in grey using aqua at corners and mid points of blanket
1 row slip stitch around in grey to finish edge.
That's it, enjoy!
