Yikes, Sukkot is just one week away and there's so much to do, especially for this creative mom. For the past two years I was actually traveling in Europe right about now, so I really didn't have much more than about four days to get it together. This year I don't have any big excuses except for a busy schedule, so it's time to get the ball rolling, quickly I might add!
First things first: choose a color scheme based on a table cloth or fabric you'd like to hang on the walls of the sukkah and take it from there. This year I'm using three gorgeous table cloths that my husband just brought back from Morocco (lucky him!) that I will use on the walls. My striped Mexican blanket collection happens to work perfectly with these tablecloths color-wise, so we're all set: over the top colorful stripes is the theme! And since this year the walls in my sukkah space are white as opposed to the creme of previous years, the brights will look fresh and certainly festive.
To boot, I pulled out a nice collection of cardboard golden keys that were made for a evening event that never happened, and I think I'll use those to make a chandelier with embroidery hoops. Metal coins fringe might also make an appearance as I have a bunch of that also from a previous project, pack rat that I am.

At this moment I've sent my daughter out to replenish our colored tissue paper supply, and off we go, are you with me? Hold on!
