At long last, I realized that I really must write down the pattern for the crocheted flower doily medallion stool cover, as we've been enjoying ours for a few months, and it's oh so simple to whip up, assuming you already know how to crochet. And for those of you who don't know how to crochet, it's a must!
The crocheted flower doily stool cover was made as a companion for the crocheted doily stool cover, and as you can see they look fabulous together! Okay, are you ready?
Crocheted Floral Doily Medallion Stool Cover Pattern:
First, just a small disclaimer, which is that I am by no means a professional pattern writer, and wrote this one up quickly. So if anyone would like to help make this pattern clearer, that would be great. If you have any questions, the best thing to do is to refer to the above photo, in which the stitches are quite clear. Enjoy!
Guage is really not important, since you may need to vary the pattern to fit your stool. Not to worry, I'll tell you how to do that! To achieve a look similar to my stool cover, you might like to useAran weight natural wool and a 5mm hook.
Round 1: Chain 6 and join with a slip stitch. Ch3 and make 19 DC into the circle.
Round 2: Ch 3 and make 1 DC into each stitch from previous round. Join to top of ch3 with a slip stitch.
Round 3: slip stitch into first two stitches and then into space after first DC. Ch3, trc, ch2, 2 DC into same space. Skip two DC and continue around making 2 DC, ch2, 2 DCinto each space which follows 2 DC, 9 times. Join with slip stitch to ch3.
Round 4: Slip stitch up to first ch2 space and slip stitch into that space. Ch 3, and then make 7DC into space. *Sc into next space after the 2nd pair of trc, and then in next ch2 space, make 8 DC. Continue from * around such that you have made 10 petals total. Make a sc in final space and join to ch3 with a slip stitch.
Round 5: Sl stitch in next four trc of first petal, and slip stitch in mid point of petal (space after 4 trc) ch 3, and then ch 10. *DC into midpoint space of next petal, ch 10 and repeat from * around, joining with slip stitch.
Round 6: Ch4, skip a chain, DC into next chain, *skip a chain, DC around, making sure to DC into every DC from previous row. join to 3rd chain of first ch4 with a slip stitch.
Note: at this point, you may need to increase or decrease the number of rows depending on the size of your stool, yarn weight and hook size.
Round 7: Repeat round 6, (or, if you have reached the edge of your stool, do a round of sc in the back loop)
Round 8: ch1, sc around and join to first stitch with slip stitch.
Round 9: Repeat round 8.
Round 10: ch 1, sc around in back loop only, join with slip stitch.
Round 11: Repeat round 10
Rounds 12-14: ch 1, sc around, join with slip stitch. For my stool this covered the side of the seat.
Round 15: ch 3, DC around in back loop only. This is to cover the bottom of the seat.
Round 16: ch 3, dc around.
Round 17: slip stitch around for a sturdy finishing row if desired.
Finishing: Crochet a chain that is long enough to act as a ribbon to secure the cover to the stool, or simply use a piece of thick yarn or ribbon. Thread ribbon through double crochet stiches as shown, and tie tightly.
