At the beginning of our month long vacation I had the idea that maybe my three littlest would enjoy making travel journals to document our adventures, in Canada and the United States. And guess what? It was a huge success, as all three, ages 12, 10 and 9 diligently recorded our activities, well at least most of the time. We still have a bit of collaging and catching up to do now that the trip is over, after which I'll share some more of the pages with you!
Love this illustration that my nine year old did.....and for those who read the hebrew, (about us staying in a hotel that was 4.5 stars) that was really the rating that the website tripadvisor.com gave to the corporate apartment we stayed in......mind you it was very nice, thanks mom!
The first pages in all the journals were filled with cute drawings, however once I got the idea to make collages with pictures cut out of tourist brochures, the drawing unfortunately went out the window for the most part, and we had to keep buying glue sticks!
And by the way, if I were you I'd plan ahead with the travel journal idea and buy some thin journals ahead of time, on sale when you see them! Ours are about 8"x11", and lined, which is nice for younger kids as it makes the writing part easier.
Speaking of travel, that often means jet lag especially when you return home, which is why it is now 6am and I'm typing this post, sigh. Wish me better luck today getting up in a few hours, life is waiting!
