What should you do when the kids are home for the second snow day in a row and there is no snow? Television and video games are not an option around here, so we'll just have to get crafting! (But you knew that of course.) And one of the simplest things to do that almost everyone loves is to quite simply paint with water colors. I actually gave the kids the assignment of painting patterns with the watercolors, which they did, but they couldn't resist having a little extra fun as well, more evidence that simply getting out the paints is always a great idea!
Look for the watercolor palettes with the large circles, those are the best, and today there are so many new color options as well, so go for it.
Love these colorful patterns, the one on the left done by an 11 year old neighbor, the one on the right courtesy of my 12 year old daughter.
And somehow sponge Bob made it into the watercolor painting session, and I think the kids did a great job, my nine year old son's version on the left (and that is his painting at the top of the post) and our 11 year old neighbor's version on the right.
After you and your kids have a bunch of pages filled with gorgeous watercolors, set them aside, some fun ideas of how to use them coming up next week!
