Wishing everyone a Chodesh Tov, (a good month) on this first day of the Jewish month of Adar! Adar is a month of great joy and so it only seems fitting that I share with you these gorgeous photos of the first almond blossoms that I saw today while out on a little hike with my boys. When the almond trees bloom in both pink and white, it is truly a spectacular sight around our city here in Northern Israel, and the first sign that Spring is on its way! Personally, no matter what else is going on, just one glimpse of these flowering trees and it just makes me so happy!
I will certainly share more photos with you as the trees become full of flowers, and for me it is also incentive to get out of the house and enjoy transitions from Winter to Spring! As you can see by the photo below, of a fig tree, when the almond trees bloom, the rest of the trees are still very much in their dormant stages, which makes the almond blossom all that much more special!
That is it for a little glimpse of life here in Israel, I'll be back shortly with a bunch more interesting photos of the hike we took today, as on Rosh Chodesh, which is a holiday of sorts, everyone has a half day of school, a great opportunity to get out into nature! And I dare say a great reminder to myself, I am not in school until 5:30 everyday, so I can and should take hikes a few times a week as now is the best time of year to enjoy the procession of blooming wild flowers.
