How To Create Gorgeous Planters With Mixed Succulents

 One of the great things about having an extensive succulent garden is that you can create new pots with lovely mixes of different species! And while succulents are all the rage no one really seems to be talking about what to do when those succulent babies grow up. Or maybe they don't grow up as people are trying to raise them indoors which isn't preferable? Hmmmm. In any case, I'm here to tell you that some succulents grow quickly and others do not, and many infact become quite leggy and not so attractive, meaning a good trim is generally necessary. With that in mind, new pots of succulents can then be made from the cuttings, which is really so much fun. As what is better than lots of succulents, a ton of succulents!

Okay enough babble, there is one important design tip that I want to share with you when it comes to creating a successful mix of succulents in one pot. Ready?

Ceramic Tiny Planter From Leftovers!

isn't this little ceramic planter just the cutest? And the perfect size to hold this bird's nest sanseviera baby and a few of the tiniest little succulent offspring as well! This project ia what results when you have some left over rolled out clay and a bit of time left at your weekly ceramics studio, and I have to say I think I'll have to make a bunch of these to give as gifts, right? So now you know, creativing with clay can be planned or very impromptu or both!

Tiny little crocheted roses from my crochet projects (Germany) and love this free knitted heart pattern from Ginx crafts, (the UK) I may just have to give it a try myself!

First off, we have an amazingly creative and beautiful project from Rosi, which combines crocheted fish using rocks and a medusa...love it! And Ginx crafts is still up to her crafty ways, and love this freesia faerie best of all.

Craftiments (USA) tried out the botanical art of kokedama using some cuttings from a leggy pothos, and love this tie-dyed picnic blanket from homemade interest (USA)

Love this pom pom mobile that would be great in your succah, from pysselbolaget (Sweden) and artistic endeavors (USA) shared what I think is her best ever project, a gourd fairy house with polymer clay details, and it is wonderful!

Fruit Carving 101: Cantelope Rose Garnishes

When I look at this little spread of carved fruit that i made in my fruit carving class a few weeks ago it just screams Rosh HaShana to me, which of course isn't a bad thing at all as the Jewish new year is really just around the corner. If you live in Israel there may not be any cantelopes around come Rosh HaShana, but that doesn't mean you can't whip up some beautiful garnishes for your holiday table, you just need to apply the ideas I'm sharing with you to something that is in season. Got it?

Ceramic Textured Nesting Plates That Kids Can Make!

Aren't these ceramic textured nesting plates just gorgeous! My twelve year old son made these at our weekly ceramics studio class, and I just love them. And the colors really make me happy, so I can't wait to use them. Though not all of them actually as my not so little anymore sweetie made one of the sets to give to his teacher as and end of the year thank you gift, pretty nice right? Ah yes, so this craft also falls under the category of teacher appreciation gift, got that? It is true, one does need to make plates that look this good in a ceramics studio with a kiln, but maybe this is the incentive you need?

The oh so creative Red Ted Art (United Kingdom) shared this beyond adorable little matchbox camera, and I just had to show you how wonderful it looks as a doll accessory!

Oleander Is A Hardy Bush With Lovely Blooms!

Are you familiar with Oleander? If not I've got some great news for you, well mostly great that is unless you have kids that tend to eat plants. Oleander is poisonous, but then again so are many plants, so just use your best judgement on that one! Okay back to the good news: oleander is a wonderfully hardy bush that is drought resistant and the kind of thing often planted next to the highway here in Israel on account of its resiliant nature! Stick a large oleander in a little pot and it will still live, maybe not flourish but certainly live! The oleander seen here actually lived in a large tin can for a good ten years before I inherited it and lived to tell the story, get my point?

Creativity With Modeling Clay: Create A Whole Village!

Aren't these little modeling clay plants growing in a field just the sweetest? I previously shared with you a pine cone orange orchard craft  and a popsicle stick playground craft and now I'm sharing with you that they were both a pert of of a large table-top village that my son's class made in order to illustrate some of the concepts that they were learning in a particular tractate of the Talmud.

Actually the class made four such villages as the kids were divided into teams, and those four tables holding their precious work took up a whole classroom, it was really such a wonderful sight to see, and only then did I fully understand those paint splotches on my son's clothing as well as his request for Playmobil people for the project!

A DIY Teacup Pin Cushion Is Adorable And Truly Useful!

 When a neighbor's child showed up at my door just before Passover with all of the things they didn't want, but thought I might, this little tea cup was tucked in there, and I immediately thought, ah yes, pin cushion or candle? And now you know the answer: tea cup pincushion! It really is just as cute as can be, and useful to boot! You can glue the cup to the plate, or better yet, don', as the plate becomes a useful catchall when you are in the middle of a sewing project. Want to make one? It is really so very simple, love that!
