Whimsical Ceramic Vase With Face

We are in the middle of celebrating Passover, and I am taking a break from the computer, but have a few projects that I finally got around to photographing, though quickly.

A spent about 9 months or so going to a ceramics studio with my son every week, which was so wonderful, and now we have ceramic creations everywhere......I really do need a huge studio of some sort with a huge specimen cabinet to display them all! Though possibly not this vase, which I'm quite happy with, as it adds a whimsical touch to my house, and is currently even on the side board in my dining room, filled with kalanchoe plants, about to rebloom.

This vase was hand built, and directly inspired by an Australian ceramicist, Vanessa Bean, who makes something similar only much smaller I believe.....I went so big that I had to wait quite a while before there was room in the kiln to fire it. At first the vase looked way too cute for my Moroccan style living room, but once I took it out for Purim it started to look right at home......not sure what the future holds, but for the time being we are enjoying this fun piece.

My advice to you? Go to a ceramics studio and enjoy making interesting accessories for your home! And no harm in being inspired by the work of others assuming you give credit and only plan to enjoy the results yourself, right?
