Whether you want to use up or re-use some simple brown paper lunch bags, or even better, recycle larger brown paper. bags, you can create festive gift wrap or gift bags with the addition of some festive Q-tip painted patterns! I had planned to create a whole Q-tip painting primer with patterns and ideas, but since that has yet to happen, I now present you with Q-tip flowers and polka dots which is fun to create and looks amazing. One of the great things about painting with Q-tips is it is great for little hands as well, and really so much fun. Beware, you may want to Q-tip paint the whole house, though that could be great too! For starters lets hone our Q-tip painting skills with these fun gift bags!
You'll Need:
- q-tips, I prefer the ones with wooden shafts if you can find them
- acrylic craft paint
- brown paper bags or cut up brown paper bags to make wrapping paper
- something to cover your work surface
- a place to hang or set finished pieces to dry
How To:
This is self explanatory, though I did find that the key to success is figuring out just the right amount of paint to put on the Q-tip for the nicest little circles. Also you may need to water your paint down, so keep that in mind as well. Experiment a bit on a scrap of paper but don't go crazy with the perfection, this is about enjoying the process and the look is artful and handmade!
Also, one needs to replace the Q-tip fairly often as the tip gets misshapen and paint logged rendering it difficult to use as a painting tool. You'll see and of course this also depends on the specific Q-tips you use.
You can use Q-tip dots to spell words, make patterns or simply go to town with polka dots which is truly simple and mesmerising! Enjoy!
