Ah yes, a quiet afternoon on the banks of the Dalalven River in Sweden sure sounds amazing right about now! With most folks housebound due to Corona quarantines, armchair traveling and making really detailed plans for future travels is a great activity, something one might not have the time for in the future! If you love nature, and travel on a budget, include a few weeks in July or August in Sweden into your plans, it is truly amazing and there are summer cottages everywhere for rent for very reasonable prices, especially if you don't need a toilet with plumbing! I hope to have the opportunity to go back, and until then will enjoy looking at all my previous posts here. We enjoyed the Dalaven River when we rented a little bakehouse on a farm, here, and the river was just a short drive or walk from the property, through farmland. Though it was July we did not see even a single person on the road to the river, or at the river! A whole landscape to yourself with a grocery store within a ten minute drive (The ICA in Nara, Sweden), now that is truly relaxing. Enjoy!
Love the reeds, so peaceful, and the lily pads, gorgeous!
Little bathing houses, or maybe boat houses, looking quaint but a bit lonely.
A vintage boat, very Swedish style, as Swedes love all things vintage.
The dock and a boat that looks like it is being used! Harsh winters in Sweden mean that there is really only a 2 month window for enjoying swimming and water activities, and even then the water is quite cold, but very refreshing. Sweden is filled with water and more water, in the form of gorgeous lakes, rivers and idyllic ocean, so if you love water as I do, take my advice and start planning your Swedish adventure!
