Thinking maybe it would be a good idea to crochet a simple scarf for an 18" doll that belongs to someone special in your life? I'd say, great idea, and even if you are a novice at crocheting, this is so simple, you can do it! And if you are not a novice and are making a hat and a scarf set, all the better, because this scarf can be whipped up in say 15 minutes give or take, and looks so adorable as a set with the crocheted 18" doll hat seen here! If you are thinking about crocheting some doll clothes, I'd recommend starting simply and seeing how it goes. I started with a hat and it was so much fun I ended up crocheted a sweater, a skirt and booties! And the end results were just so adorable I can't wait to make more. Actually I need to make more pronto as this doll needs an outfit for spring, and she does not live nearby, so I need to put that new outfit in the mail! Okay, but first, lets make a simple doll scarf!
You'll Need:
- dk wool, or use whatever you have on hand, guage is not important
- a 3.75 cm hook/F hook or hook that works with your yarn
How To:
This scarf was made with 2 rows of HDC and then a row of slip stitch, as follows
Make a chain that is roughly 24 inches/61 cm long
Round 1: Hdc in the second chain from the hook, and in every chain to the end. ch 2 and turn.
Round 2: Hdc in every stitch, ch1 and turn.
Round 3: Slip stitch until the end, and bind off.
That is it, so very simple! Of course one could make the scarf with each row a different color, or using a different stitch, but this is just one way to whip up a scarf, you do what pleases you! And of course if you choose to make it a bit wider, you could add some little pom poms on the ends, and that would be adorable!
