DIY Butterfly Costume Is Simple And Great Looking!

I can't take credit for this cute as can be and simple butterfly costume, but I can take credit for posting it right about when you just might need a quick kid's costume for tomorrow! And I can take credit for giving you some tips for how to make it successful! With Purim coming up on Wednesday night, the kids generally do their school costume day on Tuesday, so grab those cardboard boxes, some ribbon or elastic cord a hot glue gun, white paint and some pink card stock and lets get to it! Some store bought long white gloves and a wand of some kind would be great additions to this costume, as would polka dot tights and maybe ballet slippers, or even rain boots! Come to think of it, this would be a great costume for adults as well, or how about a family of butterflies? Okay, keep on reading for a few key tips to make this costume a success!

Welcome to Craft Schooling Sunday, thanks so much for joining me here. Big huge sigh, with the news of the brutal attack on Ukraine getting worse each day, the best thing to do with the feelings of fear, and helplessness and disbelief is to create, because that friends brings joy into the world, which is so very very important! Speaking of joy, Purim is coming on Wednesday night in most of the world, except for Jerusalem, which celebrates "Shushan Purim" on Thursday night/Friday, meaning the party will continue straight into Shabbat, which can be quite a challenge!

I fortunately have a lot of decorations already made from a Purim women's party this past week, so just gotta find the time to put them up. I hung one of the huge cardboard castles in the clouds in my dining room on Thursday night, but it seemed a little bit too overboard, (even for me!) since some guests are arriving and maybe I don't want that all out look just yet, so will wait until Monday......Oh dear what will become of me? I guess with no little kids around, the colorful proclamations are just the best when really necessary, you know like when the crowds arrive on Purim!

Last week's party was a quiet one, but of course there are always amazing features, so enjoy!

DIY Recycled Cardboard Castle Wall Decor!

Phew, I did it, and the crowd loved the women's Purim party decor.....they said it was better than ever! Truthfully I also felt like I moved up a rung, as the look was much cleaner and in a way, simpler, than previous years when my creations may have been a bit more all over the place. And yes, thanks to that huge white cardboard box I've been saving for months (that held our new dining table light fixture) a few white cardboard castles were born, of course together with many other items as well, which I'll be sharing with you in the next few days. But first, the castle in the clouds, which is totally do-able in time for Purim, and really makes such a huge statement! I'm about to re-install the castles in my dining room, to enjoy this shabbat, and to not have to figure out where to put them!  Okay, lets get started!

Simple DIY Paper Clouds For Wall Murals

Purim is just around the corner, and fortunately for me, the decorations I made for our women's Purim party on Monday night will now fill the wall in my house! And since I have been neglecting the crafting I used to do and share here (because of the art, which you can see on my instagram @sara.rivka.dahan) I am happy to at least have a few good projects to share with you, just in time so that you can make some too! Creativity and inventiveness are generally a big part of all the things I create, and this year I made paper clouds, for the first time ever, and friends, they are so simple and with such great results!

Paper clouds can be used in so many ways, and are especially great when placed at the bottom, such that anything you put above them is floating on the clouds, a great uplifting look. Of course, my decorations were not just clouds and stars, and I'll share the rest shortly, but for now, lets concentrate on DIY paper clouds! Ready?

Ever think about how laundry was done before the invention of the washing machine? Wow, it was truly a huge task, then again regular folks did not have many clothes so there was much less to wash! With so many clothing choices these days and lots to choose from at every budget, buying clothing for your family can be so much fun, and with all those cute little boy clothes and adorable girl clothes that make your child look polished and cute, who can resist? But, of course, with more clothes, as well as different clothes for every activity, comes lots of laundry loads. Busy parents can really benefit from teaching kids to help out with basic household chores. Thankfully, laundry is a great introductory chore for young kids, and there are numerous ways that you can get your family to help out with the laundry. Stand Up Tulips Collage Is Perfect For Spring!

Sometimes crafting is really all about creativity and certainly crafts that marry "art" and craft! This craft started out as a painted paper botanical collage to add to the series I worked on last Fall, however, things did not go quite as I had hoped and the results were, well, just too cute. Oh dear, toss it, share it on Instagram anyway (no thanks....) then it occurred to me, just cut out the cute parts, and one I started cutting I realized I could make a cute stand-up tulips collage piece to celebrate Spring. Phew, so all the time I spend on the collage did not go to waste, instead my somewhat neglected (on account of all the art going on) crafting just got a boost, and at a time when the world could sure use something light hearted. Sweet collages like this are a great way to add festive touches to the home for the upcoming holiday of Purim, as well as to sparkling clean areas ready for Passover! While my stand up collage is quite small, as it was made on a 4" x 6" piece of paper, you could intentionally make this craft and go quite a bit bigger! Okay, lets do it!
