Lag B'Omer is coming up this Wednesday night, and with no little ones around with whom to craft, I'm making adult art which I'll share soon, but what about those kids, the ones who need to be crafting right now? Here are a few ideas to get you started, courtesy of my good old archives!
Lag B'Omer, the Jewish holiday celebrated on the 33 Day of the Omer, which occurs in the middle of a mourning period, is coming up next week, so it is time to get everyone busy with some fun crafts to imbue this special day with great memories. It is true, those of us fortunate to live in Israel and even more fortunate to live in proximity to Meron don't need much encouragement to celebrate this special day, as there is plenty of action to keep everyone busy. For those living elsewhere, some effort may be necessary, so now is the time to get crafting to build the excitement! I've pulled some projects from the archives that can serve as inspiration to make this day special for your family, go for it!
The bow and arrow is a symbol of Lag B'Omer, and a fun item to make from popsicle sticks, so why not give this popsicle stick bow craft a try?
The bonfire, which represents the light Rebbe Shimon Bar Yochai brought into the world, is also a symbol of Lag B'Omer and kids have fun collecting wood items of all kinds in the weeks before the holiday. Of course, the safest bonfire is a bonfire collage, so make a big one!
We count the period called the Omer for 49 days, and a popular craft is to make a calender, which one could still do for the remaining days. Start with some kid made doodles and take it from there. Complete instructions for making my omer calender craft will be a great place to start.
If you are looking for a craft to decorate the walls, or the fridge, give this paper arrows collage craft a try. If there are a few kids doing this craft, vary the color of the background paper and display them together.
Have fun making memories for kids, there is nothing more precious!
