Imagine seeing a snow capped Mount Hermon as you are driving down the road? Yes my friends, that was in fact the case on our road trip across the Golan Heights just before Passover, and there were so many great sights from the car window that I just had to share them with you! This was new territory for us, more or less, so it was also really exciting to be not all that far from home and yet see things that were totally different from anywhere else we've been in Israel. And in case you are wondering, spring is hands down the best time to visit Israel and especially Northern Israel, to experience the green hills, a bounty of wild flowers and blooming trees! Okay, lets take a little ride, shall we?
As we left our vacation rental in Moshav Keshet and drove up the hill, hello little red bush in bloom, we love you! To see a whole post on red bush (klil hachoresh) in bloom click here.
Above: If you take a right turn here you can visit the wind turbines, or get closer......
Above: The same view just zoomed in. Rolling green fields with patches of mustard in bloom and snow on Mt. Hermon, wow!
Above: One of many little volcanic hills found in the Ramat HaGolan, Golan Heights.
Above: Love these trees in the pasture!
Above: Mount Bental and Mount Avital, volcanic mountains.
Above: As you get close to Mount Hermon you somehow see less snow! On the left is the Druze city of Majdal Shams.
Above: Cherry trees in bloom!
Above: And more cherry trees in bloom.....there are many pick-your-own orchards here, gotta come back!
Above: The crater lake called Lake Ram, and the very steep road that Wayz sent us down, yikes!
Above: The other side of Mount Avital
Above: Another look at Mount Bental (left) and Mount Avital, and wind turbines!
Above: The backside of either Mount Avital or Mount Bental, sorry not sure.
And that is it for my views of the Golan Heights from the car window, hope you enjoyed it, more Golan photos to come!
