I'll admit, I have not been doing many crochet projects lately, (and I miss it!) but recently I just had to whip up some mini crocheted dog beds from t-shirt yarn to give as a gift together with two tiny puppies, and I have to say, the results were truly adorable. I'm sorry to say that I don't have time right now to write out a pattern, so I'll give you the link to the tutorial for the full sized dog bed that inspired this one. That said it really is so very simply, so you can do it! It is just a circular base with 3 rows crocheted like the sides of a basket, with rows 2 and three crocheted as rows not in the round in order to leave the space in the front of the dog bed. Okay, keep on reading for more info, and maybe a good dose of 'you can do it!"
You'll Need:
- two colors of industrial waste t-shirt yarn, or make your own!
- a large crochet hook, but go smaller than you might be inclined to so bed will be nice and stiff
- inspiration from the full sized dog bed shared here by Bag O Day Crochet, and there is also a video on You Tube!
Have fun and light up a little one somewhere with this adorable present, of course don't forget to buy the softest cutest little plushies you can find!
Above: That slanted stitch that gives texture is an important part of the design, I think, only I can't remember what it is called, but it is used on the large sized dog bed referenced above.
Above: Ah yes, one is great but two is even better!
Who can resist? I think I need to make some more, there is a cat somewhere that also needs a bed!
