Looking for a simple way to brighten up your Chanukah menorah? How about using DIY polka dot candles which are simple to make and so much fun! I'll admit, I'm using these candles for holiday decor to show off this lovely vintage chanukah menorah but you can certainly make candles like these to burn for chanukah, place in candlesticks for decor, or make as centerpieces for a festive party of any kind. Candles with tiny painted flowers and other designs are now popular, so why not make your own? It is truly simple and you'll only need one particular art supply item, can you guess what it is? Keep on reading.......and wishing you a light filled Chanukah and year to come! Happy crafting and don't forget that creativity is a great answer to everything!
You'll Need:
- the candles of your choice
- a paint pen, mine is Posca 1.8-2.5mm, in pink, my favorite!
How To:
The very easiest way to make tiny dots is with a paint pen, though one can also do this by dipping the end of a paint brush into paint. Simply make vertical rows of staggered dots, leaving time for the dots to dry, as they smudge easily right after application. As you can see, my results are not perfect as I made these quickly! If you are going for close to perfection, make a paper guide for vertical spacing to use for at least the first row of dots. You can choose whether you prefer lots of space between the dots or something more crowded, I've done both.
Happy crafting, and maybe consider trying out some more subtle patterns to adorn your candlesticks like tiny flowers or stripes? The key in my opinion though is to keep it delicate!
