One of the cutest things I've made lately, and so very simple......introducing watercolor mosaic strawberries, to whip up in basket's full, just in time for the Jewish holiday of Shavuot! These watercolor strawberries require only the simplest supplies, and the results are so fun. Use them on garlands, as cake toppers, as napkin rings or gift tags, or stick some into a houseplant for fun holiday or summer decor. And watercolors are truly a wonderful medium, that can be used for so many craft projects, so give it a try!
- watercolor paper
- watercolors, I used the kohinoor stacked discs, plus Daniel Smith opera pink (that everyone needs, opera pink that is!)
- watercolor brushes with small points, but use what you have
- a pencil and en eraser
How To:
Draw the strawberries with the mosaic pieces, or wing that part. Either way, be sure to leave a border of white around each mosaic piece as that is the strength of this look. Paint up to the pencil line, but NOT over it, as then the pencil will be trapped in the paint. Try to mix a variety of reds and pinks for the best result. Leave to dry and then erase the pencil lines and voila, so very cute. Now make a bushel!
