A stunning fiery orange and very dramtic sunset over Mount Meron in Northern Israel was something that one had to be near a window to catch, as it passed quite quickly! I am so very blessed to have a stunning mountain view that never gets old, especially with sunsets and cloud formations like these! And yes, I do plan to paint all of this, even as a daily practice, but in the mean time I have photos to record some of the clouds that seem unreal, and really do belong in a painting!
The double peak of Mount Meron houses a military base on the right peak, with two domes that often remind me of the luchot habrit, the tablets given on Mt. Sinai! Sadly, this base is a target that our enemies to the north often try to eliminate with missiles, but usually miss, leaving pillars of smoke on the mountain just below the base. We truly hope the craziness of it all will end soon and that every door that slams will not send some of us into a momentary panic. Big huge sigh and something that just goes together with the merit to live in this truly special holy place.
The tiny lights are the heart of the village of Meron and the location of the tomb of Rebbi Shimon Bar Yochai, who is surely protecting us.
Goodbye summer sunset!
