Pulling this one out of the archives from 2019, as there is now a new baby in the family, and that means time to get crocheting! Okay, actually I already spent an entire week on vacation just crocheting, so in this case it is time to get back to work and my art practice, with just a bit of crocheting to use up the new stash of yarn? Here's what I wrote:
Sometimes crocheting a gift for a newborn baby just seems like the best way to show your love, and this newborn baby bear hat is the perfect little baby hat as it is quick and adorable! I fortunately had a project in progress that I unraveled in order to make this hat in the perfect blush pink color, and I just love the results. This hat is of course a winter hat, though one can use chunky cotton for a summer version that would be equally adorable. Once you make this newborn hat, you'll want to make them in sizes for all the little ones in your family. So let's share the love and crochet some newborn baby hats shall we?
You'll Need:
-
Hook: 6.5mm, US K (can go a bit smaller with hook if desired if newborn is on the tiny side, this hat was a bit big for the 3kg baby)
-
Yarn: Chunky: 80%acrylic 20% polyamide, 100g/110meters
- pattern here, uses really chunky novelty yarn, but translates nicely to a newborn hat with regular yarn when following pattern for 6-12 months
How To:
Follow the pattern here for 6-12 months, for your first hat. Once you realize how simple this little hat is, you can easily work it with any hat pattern that you have, and the ears can be enlarged by adding another row or even two if necessary.
