If you are looking for a great craft to whip up now for the last two nights of Chanukah, this is the one! And best of all, the candles are so simple to save for next year! I actually made these paper candles last year for my recycled liquor bottle candlestick table-scape, and this year I realized I could use them to make a fun Chanukah Menorah (Chanukiah) and truly it is so very festive, and really caught the eye of my 4th grade crafting students! And of course, these candles can be used for so many festive occasions, so they are great to have on hand. Okay, lets do it!
You'll Need:
- paper candles tutorial
- 8 candles the same height, and a 9th candle that is taller
- colored letter/A4 paper or any size really
- sparkly craft foam or paper
- a pink paint pen
- toothpicks
- a hot glue gun or high tack glue
- 10 shot glasses
- kosher salt
- an oblong rectangular dish or tray (optional), I have two so I flip one over to use as the base, one of my best purchases ever!
How To:
- Make candles according to tutorial. NOTE: The colored green band was added so candles fit into liquor bottles nicely, you don't need them for this, but they are a nice touch and allow for future use in a bottle.
- Place kosher salt in 8 shot glasses and add candles.
- Stack two shot glasses and put salt in top glass and add the shamash, the taller candle.
- Arrange shot glasses in an oblong dish also filled with kosher salt, and consider giving it an additional base of some kind, mine is the same dish flipped upside down.
Voila, a great looking centerpiece, or sideboard decoration is born! Chanukah Sameach!
