With Passover coming at the end of this week, the pressure is on to finish up all the preparations, which in our case involve lots of cleaning, organizing and hard work! Of course I'm always dreaming of making new things for the holiday, and this year, while it was not at all practical, I ended up crocheting a really cute set of 10 Plagues amigurumi for a special little boy for the Passover seder. My daughter will be with extended family for the holiday, and is leaving tonight, so I HAD to finish everything last night, and phew, I did it! While I've already shared my tiny crocheted frog, and the crocheted drop of blood, I now present my crocheted locust, or rather a locust head, as crocheting an entire animal just was not in the cards, and this is much cuter! Okay, I doubt anyone is actually going to crochet this now, but I'm happy to add some basic directions, so keep on reading!
You'll Need:
- the wonderful pattern for the frog, from tori story creations
- creme yarn, I used 100% mercerized cotton, 50g/125m
- a crochet hook, I used a steel crochet hook size 0 (2.55mm)
- tiny safety eyes
- black embroidery thread and yarn needle
- fabric glue
- wire, mine is paper covered from bag handles
How To:
Follow instructions linked to above to make the head and eyes I made a few changes:
- For eyes in row 2 I single crocheted in back loop, and then attach to head as seen in photo
- For antenae wrap yarn around wire, leaving some blank wire at the bottom to stick into head. Use lots of fabric glue and then wrap yarn around base of 2 antennae as seen in photo, affixing with lots of glue
- Make shape of face not round, with a nose of sorts by stitching with yarn, which you can see in the photo.
That is it, enjoy!
