I almost can't believe it myself, as I don't generally crochet tiny-ish things nor create my own patterns, but here we are! Introducing my crochet for Passover Ten Plagues character, Pharoah with boils, and boy does he look unhappy, those boils are downright uncomfortable! With just a few days to go until Passover I'm rushing to share this and it is unlikely that anyone on the face of the planet will actually make this for this Passover, but if you can crochet and have some travel time or down time, give it a try! Though honestly, I'd make the amigurumi frog and amigurumi drop of blood, both of which are much simpler, well the drop of blood certainly. Then again, maybe you'd prefer an amigurumi locust, another member of the 10 Plagues crocheted characters born this year? I actually managed to crochet a new afikomen cover (a few weeks ago, phew) but that needs a lining and a golden tassel, and my poor studio, while soooooooo much better still needs a good few hours of organizing, so gotta run!
- the wonderful pattern for the frog, from tori story creations
- creme, green, red and metallic gold yarn, I used 100% mercerized cotton, 50g/125m
- a crochet hook, I used a steel crochet hook size 0 (2.55mm)
- tiny safety eyes
- black embroidery thread and yarn needle
- fabric glue
How To:
Follow instructions linked to above to make the head, the rest of the pattern was improvised by me, by making a band around the head for the bottom of the hat, of 2 rows sc and one row dc with increases every fourth stitch. I then crocheted a circle for the top of the hat and joined that to the band with a row of slip stitch. Gold serpant is a base chain of 4, with sc on both sides of the chain and dc around top. Back hanging piece of hat was crocheted in a row from top down, increasing at the bottom so it flares out, and then doing sc all around edges.
Sorry I can't go into more depth, Pesach is coming.
Above: Side and back views, you can do it, just wing it! As you can see from the back view, mine is far from perfect......
Above: Even froggy can't cheer him up!
Above: Four of my Ten Plagues Crocheted Characters, and I may just have gotten the amigurumi bug, yikes! (Though the little ones in my life will surely benefit!)
That is it, enjoy!
