Looking for a fun, simple and great looking bow and arrow craft for kids? Whether for the Jewish holiday of Lag B'Omer, or summer camp crafting, this is truly a winner! You can decorate the bow in many ways, with crafting supplies on hand, and even teach basic crocheting or braiding to make the string for the bow. My group of fourth grade crafting students loved this craft, and while we have actually used these elements to make a stand-up centerpiece, as is is great too, or make a fun sign for the front door. There are so many ways to go with this one (I'll be hanging arrows from my dining table chandelier!) and time is of the essence, so let's do it!
- wooden skewers, colored cardstock/cardboard, electric tape for DIY arrows craft
- recycled cardboard
- woodgrain drawings made via my tutorial (optional) or colored paper, electric tape
- yarn or string for bow, and a large yarn needle to make holes and thread the string
- a glue stick and hot glue (for arrows)
- large dinner plate or round tray to trace around for bow
How To:
- Follow tutorials for wood grain paper and arrows linked to in "you'll need" section above. Make bow shape by tracing around a very large dinner plate or round tray
- I made nesting bow shapes within the largest bow.
- Affix woodgrain paper to bow with a glue stick and then remove excess paper.
- Attach string, I crocheted a chain, which works nicely.
Voila, a bow and arrow craft is made! I did this with the boys in two sessions, one to make the arrows and one to make the bows.
