I have to admit, this is one of the cutest crafts I've done lately, and I just can't wait to make more! Perfect for Rosh HaShana, and then bring your pomegranite branches into the succah! Use them to fill vases, or make garlands for the table or to hang overhead, on LED lighting or on rings hung horizontally.......or how about as part of a placecard/napkin ring? Mini Magazine Page Flowers Craft

Mini recycled magazine page chrysanthemums are just the sweetest and great anytime or for a special occasion! I could have sworn that i made larger versions of these a good ten years ago, but the only thing I found on my blog is a felt version of these, also wonderful! I had totally forgotten about my felt flower stint, hmmmm, maybe time to revisit that, but in the mean time, lets make some magazine page flowers, in this case mini versions that I think I'm going to use as napkin decor for my daughter's birthday party this Shabbat (shhhh, its a surprise!) DIY Colorful Floral Border Doodle For Cards, Journals, Signs and More!

Years ago I got into floral doodles via some tutorials for bullet journal art and it was so much fun, and a great introduction to the world of journaling and sketchbook practices. Since then I've been working on refining my art skills and while doing lots of drawing, not like the floral borders you see here, and wow, was this ever enjoyable and fun, with great results, and, I might add so very simple compared to trying to paint the landscapes I'm dreaming of! Toilet Paper Tube Birdy Gift Tags Or Party Decor

With Purim coming up on Saturday night, I started making really fun egg carton portrait gift tags, only the later ones came out so well I really can't give them away, so I was looking for something super cute but just a bit less precious, and these toilet paper roll birdies fit the bill! I'll be attaching them to the top of a cellophane wrapped plate of goodies with a ribbon or piece of string attached to the head I think, and then folks can use them as holiday decor on their table, or if they end up in the garbage, gasp it isn't the end of the world. I made 20 of these and they are now all sitting on my piano looking cute as can be, and waiting to fly off to new homes on Sunday morning. This is relatively quick, and if you choose to leave the background the cardboard and just add details, even quicker, so lets make some!

Plastic Bag Pom Pom Centerpiece

Last week I shared with you how to make DIY yarn from plastic bags, and now I've used that yarn to make one of my all time favorite recycling crafts, plastic bag pom poms! Not only do they use up all the plastic bags that are still in use in my corner of the world (sigh) but also because truly, the results are fabulous! While I usually hang the pom poms from my chandelier over the dining room table, this year I think I'm using them as a centerpiece of sorts on our black piano......looks great as is, and the pom poms don't quite match the other decor I have going on, so I put a large plate on top of an upside down bowl, to make a cake stand, and voila!

You can these fun pom poms in any size (these are about the size of a large grapefruit) and they hold their shape over time unlike tissue paper yet have the look of tissue paper. Ah yes, and if you end up using them in the succah they are waterproof, yippee! You can store them in a box and use them time and time again! If you are very particular that they maintain their shape, put a rod of some sort across the top of the box and hang them from the rod, to insure beautiful pom poms, after all your hard work that is.

I love the multicolor look here, but have also made solid red plastic bag pom pom fruit, which is so cute. So hang onto orange, yellow, red and purple bags to make pom pom fruit for Tu B'shevat! Okay, ready to make some plastic bag pom poms?

How To Upcycle Liquor Bottles For DIY Holiday Projects

I just love all the shapes and sizes that are used in order to make liquor bottles special......and of course I love the bottle itself much more than the contents, not to worry! While a huge collection of liquor bottles wasn't something I've had previously, one on my sons just got married, and the bride's little brother, knowing of my recycling ways, collected a large number of bottles from the wedding. I immediately got to work removing labels, spouts, metal necks and bottle decor, and actually ended up using them all to make bottle candlestick holders. I have to say, there is some work required, but with the right info it can be done fairly easily and is so very worth it!
