End Of Summer Thank You Card With Hand Lettering

They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, which is sometimes true, and so I'm very happy to report once again, that my daughter also loves creativity and does hand lettering effortlessly! And while this card looks like brush markers, whoops, I forgot that on the trip we only had watercolors, so this is true brush lettering, then defined with a black pen! My mother "Bubbie" was gifted this thank you card on the last day of our wonderful visit, and of course she loved it! My youngest son saw what my daughter was doing and also painted a card, which was just totally heartwarming! So friends, pray that your kids will love creativity too, and make sure that they get exposure to a range of crafts so they can find something they love and perfect it! And at the end of the day if they just aren't interested, so be it, it just isn't in everyone's genes! Maybe music?

DIY Brush Lettering And Watercolor Rosh HaShana Card Craft

Wishing everyone a Shanah Tovah U'Metuka! A new year filled with good health and success in all you do and of course filled with creativity and a big huge dose of kindness to all. The good news is that you can still make Rosh HaShanah cards to wish loved ones a wonderful new year, it is not too late! So get started today, put them in the mail if need be, and spread the love. Cards can be received even for the Succot holiday, don't stress out, just get to work! My lovely daughter made this card for me, and wow, I just wish she realized that she has so much talent, especially given that she does not spend any time at the moment doing art of any kind! Years ago I did print out some brush lettering sheets which she practiced, and that has served her well, and the rest, hmmm, just experimenting with little doodles and fields of either water color or watercolor pens, not quite sure. Also, not the long shape of this card, which is perfect for a greeting theme! The little stars? Yes, I folded them myself, and each one takes about 40 seconds once you get good at it, and uses quilling paper! Sure would be fun to include some lucky stars in the envelope, right?

DIY Birthday Centerpiece With Pink Apples!

For my daughter's 19th birthday on the last day of the Jewish month of Tammuz (fortunately just before the 9 day of mourning, during which time I could not throw a festive party no matter how simple.) I needed to make something new to shower her with a bit of love, and the painted apples that I made back in September 2020 for Rosh HaShana, are still looking just as cute as can be and make great party decor. Check out my tutorial here. Plus I made quite a large quantity in a few colors and just the pink ones alone filled this glass footed bowl, and of course looked right on he mark with the pink botanical birthday number centerpiece. But how to make the bowl of apples birthday specific? Ah yes, a little brush lettering sign, of course. So I got out my brush marker, and having practiced brush lettering a bit, I just winged it, and a perfect little birthday message appeared on the painted background, phew! Want to make something like this too? I highly recommend it, because once you've got festive apples, the whole mood is just downright happy!

How To Draw A Botanical Border For A New Baby Card

A new baby means a new baby card, and all that sketching or rather doodling in my sketchbook means it is time to put that practice to work in the form of a handmade card! And, why not do the artwork on a separate piece of paper, in this case notebook paper, and simply glue that on to the card? No pressure and great results, gotta love it! And while I don't really favor the look of markers these days, I love how this simple card turned out, and the recipients didn't even realize at first that it was hand made! DIY Wrapping Paper From Brush Lettering Practice Sheets!

Dear readers, now that I have shown you how to make adorable wrapping paper, there really is no excuse not to invest a little bit of time in learning brush lettering, and in this case actually brush lettering using Crayola markers, which is called crayoligraphy, or something like that.

Crayola Calligraphy Is A Great Way To Learn About Brush Lettering

As it turns out there are no brush markers to be found in our neck of the woods, so while we await a visit from my nephew in a few weeks (and the brush lettering pens that I had sent to him in New York) we are making do with supplies that we do have on hand. I don't know where we've been, but it turns out the crayola calligraphy is a thing, and a really great thing I must say! Because of the shape of the crayola marker, and the fact that it is water soluble, one can not only draw brush lettering style calligraphy, one can also use the pens to do a number of really fun artsy effects.

While mom is taking the more pragmatic approach of practicing my calligraphy strokes using the crayola markers, my daughter just jumped right in and created these two cute phrases, among others of course. I am one proud mama and so happy that we find joy in the same things!
