Pear Of Hearts Milk Carton Painting Craft

So friends, it turns out that painting tiny hearts on milk cartons can get a bit addictive as layer after layer is so very relaxing! That means more milk cartons filled with hearts to then turn into pear of hearts milk cartons, because the pear is created by blocking out the background with a solid color, leaving the pear shape filled with hearts, so very cute I must say! And yes I have outlined the pear with a paint pen, as it needs the definition, but that all depends on the colors you are using! The wonderful thing as always about painting on milk cartons is that is is low pressure, so you can just have fun, and you have 4 sides to get it right! And then, tada, the art stands up all by itself, which I just love, and you could fill them with tiny pebbles or sand to make book ends if you so desire. Okay, lets learn how to create something similar!

With the Jewish New Year for the trees, Tu B'Shevat coming up this Sunday night I thought I'd revamp some of my painted milk cartons to go with the new ones covered in hearts. I had almost forgotten how many graffiti hearts projects I've done, so it is a good thing there is an archives here to remind me! I have not painted in a while, so I've been covering milk cartons with layers and layers of hearts as a warm up, and it also turns out to be oh so relaxing and quite addicting! And best of all they are sure to put a smile on everyone's face, promise! So cover a milk carton in hearts, and another with whimsical blooming heart trees and enjoy!

Make A Row Of Milk Carton Houses Craft!

I've just pulled this one from the archives, and it was not dusty as I made these last January. They really are sweet, and a perfect craft to usher in Spring, and put smiles on everyone's faces for Jewish month of Adar, when we get really silly for the holiday of Purim. Fun fact: on the Jewish calendar which is lunar we don't have a leap day, we have a leap month! This year we have 2 months of Adar, and right now we are in the first month of Adar. Theoretically this means we have a whole extra month to start getting ready for Passover, but I'm spending it painting so there you have it! Enjoy, and if your family starts to complain about the stash of milk/juice cartons, just tell them I made you do it! Here is the original post:

I really can't count the times I've planned to make milk carton houses, nor how many milk cartons I have packed away in the basement for those dream projects, but I can report to have taken one tiny step forward with these milk carton heart graffiti wall houses! I realize it sounds like I've never made milk carton houses, silly me, I certainly have, twice, milk carton house planter, and doodled millk carton houses. I've been all about hearts lately, and while the hearts I've been painting haven't exactly been graffiti hearts, lets just pretend they are, and certainly when painted on a milk carton house they can be! And of course there are many leaves shaped like hearts, so cover a milk carton with green hearts and you've got a wall of ivy or a garden. Add a few small house details and a whole row of houses is born! This is such a fun project for any age, and I recommend painting a bunch of milk cartons to have on hand, as in general painting on 3D objects is great for developing a creative eye, and for adding something fresh to your crafting or creative practice!  Ah yes, and with the Jewish new year for the trees coming next week, include a few almond blooms, or a blooming fruit tree and include this in your holiday decor. Either way, it feels like Spring, so it works for Tu B'Shevat! Okay, lets get started, shall we? Paint An Old Shoe With Graffiti Hearts!

This has to be one of my crazier ideas, but I just couldn't resist and it was relatively quick, so here's to whimsical upcycled art! And while this might seem like it is coming out of left field, just a bit, this could also be a craft for Lag B'Omer, you know just in case you've already made more bonfires, caves, and arrows than you can bear. Because my friends, Rebbi Shimon, whom we celebrate on Lag B'Omer was all about ahavas yisrael, Jewish unity! And what more fitting than a bunch of hearts that together comprise a wonderful lively piece of well, funky decor?

And honestly, who couldn't use a graffiti hearts shoe in their life? I apparently needed one, and will sometime soon fill it with succulents or a flowering something. Or maybe not, or maybe yes, to get it out of the house! Then again, this is one special shoe, as unknown to us it was living under our kitchen cabinets for ten years or so, and we only discovered it when we removed the baseboard in order to long last clean under there......and lo and behold my son produced a single shoe that apparently went missing a good ten or so years ago.....I do vaguely remember something like that. In any case, I was feeling so very nostalgic about this shoe from when my boys were little that I just had to save it, and then the idea of painting it with hearts came to mind. Okay, love the idea of painting lots of hearts on anything, keep on reading, I've done this a few times on flat surfaces.....

Paint And Doodle Heart Birds!

After filling many pages in my sketchbook with layered heart paintings, covering a cardboard box with graffiti hearts, and even making an actual layered hearts painting on canvas, the natural progression might be to start seeing things in those heart shapes, and what did I see? Why birds of course, because there are plenty of birds around here lately because of the #28featheredfriends instagram challenge I'm doing! I had hoped to have time to do an actual tutorial on this one with individual hearts, but there just isn't time for that right now, so I'm showing you the page in my sketchbook, now called "flash mob doodle birds" and I'm quite sure you can take it from there. These heart shaped birds would look great on a card, a gift tag, or even a tote bag or t-shirt, right? If you choose to create them on paper, why not do it on a large sheet that you can then cut up into smaller pieces? Okay, let's take a closer look!

Mini Graffiti Hearts Painting, Third Time Is A Charm!

If this looks a bit familiar to you, it is! I shared this painting a few weeks ago here, where I also described how it was painted. Honestly the colors just were not working in our home, so I decided to keep on painting tiny hearts, this time in colors that would work and phew, after another couple hundred or so hearts that covered up the previous hearts, a new pastel version of my original mini graffit hearts painting was born! So this technically is also a recycling craft, I just can't get away from them!

We don't have any holidays on the Jewish calendar that involve giving heart shaped cards and the like, but since a large part of the English speaking world does, all the heart items made for that holiday in China make it into our stores as well, and folks use the heart for birthdays, weddings, or just because. So, this heart painting is a "just because" and because I just couldn't resist painting a whole crowd of tiny hearts, one more time! I painted tiny hearts on a box, on milk cartons and in my journal, so actually painting on a canvas seemed like the next logical step. And who knows, maybe I'll have to give this as a gift to hang in a baby's room or maybe it will live in my kitchen shelves art gallery. A Peek In My Sketchbook: Mini Hearts Galore

It is true the mini painted hearts are taking over and who can complain? While working on my mini painted hearts painting, I also started experimenting in my sketchbook as well, as while it may seem that just painting hearts has its limitations, there are in fact so many ways to go! While I did labor for hours to get the mini hearts painting just so, when things started to look not so great in my sketchbook I opted to use the hearts pattern as a background, and thus the pear of hearts was born! I have now filled an additional four pages with all kinds of hearts, so let me tell you, it is addictive, but certainly not harmful unless it takes you into the wee hours on the morning, who me? Okay, keep on reading to see a bit more.....

Mini Graffiti Hearts Painting To Spread The Love

Now is a great time to spread the love by painting tiny hearts galore! And while it is true that folks are thinking about hearts as February approaches, hearts are great anytime, and who couldn't use a little extra love right about now?  A mini hearts painting that could also become a mix of hearts to look more like a graffiti hearts painting is a great project to do over the course of a few days, and perfect for beginners. And, if you feel like painting something to give as a gift, this idea done on small canvases would also look great. I'll admit, it is more difficult that it looks, but the great thing about acrylic paint is that if you're not happy with the outcome, use that as the under layer for another painting! Start your painting by writing your heart's desire on the first layer, or fill it with wishes or prayers for a loved one, and paint away. With each heart send some love to the person for whom you are painting this, and your painting will truly be more than just a pattern, it will be a work of art literally filled with love! Okay, you will need to practive painting little hearts, but once the muscle memory in your hand kicks in, it is just a matter of diligence! Let's get started!

Tiny Painted Hearts Recycled Gift Box!

My love for recycling crafts has now officially married my newish love for painting, and this tiny painted hearts gift box is the proof!  It is true, I have been painting recycled gift boxes for a good few months now, you can see the abstract vases box here, and loose abstract flowers here, a large floral painting on a box here, and winter mittens here, and the fun painted apples here. Honestly I have been using them as holiday and kitchen art gallery decor rather than actual gift giving, as there is just something so lovely about stacked boxes adorned with artful paintings and patterns! Plus they fit nicely on my picture ledge art gallery of sorts, and provide a creative outlet that could be used, though I'd have to make multiples in order to part with them at this point. So what can I tell you, painting on boxes is just oh so satisfying! A box painted with layers of hearts like this one is so cheerful and looks great as part of a vignette, or placed just about anywhere. If your box is strong enough you can place a rectangular piece of glass on top and use it as a dessert platter on a dessert bar, or how about putting a vase in the box and using the box as a vase, now that just might work!
