Crocheted Baby Bonnet With Ties That You Can Make In An Hour!

There is a new baby boy in the extended family which means it is time to get back to some crocheting so that I'll have a handmade gift when we travel a few hours away for the Bris! I have been known to crochet gifts while in the car on the way to visit the new baby, but this time I figured I'd get a bit of a head start so that I can properly wrap the gift, rather than fumbling with paper in the car!

When the ground is covered in snow, and things in your town have not returned to normal after a huge storm, what better idea than to sit in a cozy spot and whip up a crocheted baby hat with ear flaps and a pom pom?

In my recent quest to use up all that yarn hanging around I have been crocheting projects on a whim, and today it involved a fabulous crocheted ear flap hat for a newborn that is just so very cute, and took roughly an hour to make! And the pattern actually calls for a pom pom on the top as well at the ends of the ties, which would make it super cute in a larger size, though for a newborn those things could get in the way.

Crocheted Giant Granny Square Baby Blanket Pattern

 Last week I shared with you my crocheted giant granny baby blanket, and now I'm going to give you what is hopefully enough details so that you can make one too! The blanket is made of four giant granny squares, using Pattern A and Pattern B, which are just color variations of the same design. And then I crocheted a wide border around the joined squares to give the blanket a substantial feeling, and to stretch the little yarn I had to make the biggest blanket possible.

Crocheted Chunky Ankle-Tie Baby Booties

Hip hip hooray, after many many attempts, I've finally managed to crochet a pair of baby booties that were cute enough to actually give as a gift! I don't know why it's been such a challenge, but I think it mostly has to do with not using the appropriate yarn and hook size, and also wanting something that looks cute just sitting there, which many booties do not, or at least the ones I've tried!

Super Simple Crocheted Baby Hat With Ear Flaps

Here's a super simple yet great looking little baby hat with ear flaps, that I made to go with my crocheted scallop stitch baby sweater. Though truthfully, I made this hat in newborn size, while the sweater won't be worn for a good few months. So in the car on the way to the hospital, I made another hat, in a different color and a bigger size, to be worn with the sweater. And truthfully these hats are so quick to whip up, giving a few in a few sizes is a great idea. 

Crocheted Baby Sweater With Scallop Stitch

Introducing a super sweet crocheted scallop stitch baby sweater that's really quite simple to make but looks great! Mazel Tov! A new baby in the extended family means I get to spend a little time whipping up some crocheted gifts, something I've been wanting to do for months, so I'm certainly not complaining. 

I love how this little sweater turned out, though we all had to laugh as I was weaving in the ends in the car on the way to the hospital to visit mom and baby, and took this photo on one of the tables at the rest stop! I have to say though, I love the wooden backdrop, something I couldn't find at home.

Crocheted Starburst Baby Blanket

Introducing a fabulous crocheted baby blanket, appropriately named the crocheted starburst baby blanket. And in addition to sharing with you this simple yet lovely project, I'm so happy to say that this project was a collaboration between myself and a reader, who quite simply went to town with my filet crochet starburst square. Lucky for me, my end of the collaboration only involved a few emails and back and forth, while Diana did all the work......and this lovely blanket was born!

Quick Crocheted Baby Sweater Made In One Piece

 

Here is another really great and simple crocheted baby sweater pattern, that's easy to follow and really quick. And of course best of all, it is crocheted as one piece, so when you're finished there's just a seam to sew up on each side! My kind of project, exactly.

I had been wanting to try out this crocheted baby sweater pattern every since a kind reader shared it with me, and the news that a good friend had given birth to twins, a boy and a girl was all the incentive I needed!  I was looking for a quick project, (that reader says she makes these in about three hours!) so I used two strands of a medium weight yarn to make these sweaters on the chunky side, but you can certainly use any yarn of your choice. Though you may have to increase the number of stitches to get a sweater that's the size you'll need.

Another Super Simple Crocheted Baby Hat!

A super simple baby hat to crochet, pattern here, and bring along as a gift when you visit your friend after birth! I gave this one yesterday, as I just couldn't show up empty handed right? And buying something certainly wouldn't be my style. So I used up some more of my yarn odds and ends, and I love the vintage look of this slightly unexpected color combo...light pink and orange. And by the way, if you're thinking of skipping the little bobble on top (which is actually my crocheted button cover pattern without the button inside) don't, it makes the whole hat!
