Handmade Holiday: Crocheted Gift Pouches

These crocheted pouches that I posted about as bags for Hanukkah gelt, here, were such a success I just had to make more! A birthday party for my daughter's friend, no problem, let's give her a pouch filled with some small gifts! And a few buttons added to the end of the drawstring are cute and functional...the string wont fall out! I think I even made the one on the right in about an hour, and it not only made my daughter happy and set a good example for giving handmade, it also was satisfying for me and fulfilled some of my need to create!

If you happen to be paying attention I guess you've already figured out that I got bitten by the crochet bug! Sorry about that for those of you who don't crochet, but maybe you'll learn and join in on the fun? You are really missing out, believe me! And it's definitely a lot easier than learning to ski or play the piano I'd say....plus you can practice any time....in the car, in line, during a commute on the train.....and then, instead of practicing during those times, you'll eventually be able to crochet something!

From A Simple Crocheted (& Felted) Square: A Sweet Envelope Or A Potholder!

Need a little something handmade to show you care? Want to practice crocheting and have something to show for your efforts? Looking for a little project that will fulfill an immediate need to craft? (That was me, by the way, which is how this came about!) When the idea struck, I quickly crocheted this square from 100% wool yarn while trying to feed my kids dinner Saturday night. I wanted to finish the square in time to throw it in the laundry with the day's load of darks, in order to felt it a bit. Sounds like fun? It is!
