When joining start your slip stitch as normal, but when you pull up your loop, pull up color A instead. Do not cut color B – let the yarn hang loose inside your cap.

Rnd 9: Repeat row 7 (let Color B dangle, don't cut off yarn)
Rnd 10: Repeat row 8 (let Color A dangle, don't cut off yarn)
Rnd 11: Repeat row 7, cut off color B at end of row, pick up color A
Rnd 12-15: Repeat row 8, using color A. At end of rnd 15, join Color B.
Rnd 16-18: Repeat row 8, using Color B, join with a slip stitch and change to color C
Rnd 19: Complete hat with one row of hdc in color C. Tie off and weave in ends.
To make the button bobble at the top of the hat, using Color C, see my post here about making covered buttons, just don't include the button! Sew button bobble to top of hat with matching yarn.
