Here's a gorgeous centerpiece that you can still pull together for your Succah, or create anytime! I took this photo a few years ago, but it's still one of my favorites, especially those little hands that accidently got in the way and yet gave the whole photo that extra touch of life!
Centerpieces from fall vegetables and fruits aren't difficult to assemble, the main thing you'll need is the appropriate base. This one just so happens to be perfect, footed and yet not deep, such that all the elements are visible. If you have a round tray, you can make it "footed" by simply placing it on top of an inverted bowl.
For a successful arrangement think about the following:
- Find fruits and vegetables in a range of sizes from large to very small
- Use fruits that are textured (lichee, seen here) and brightly colored (pomegranite)
- A good arrangement usually has something that spills over the sides (fresh dates on a stem, seen here), grapes are usually used for this, though they won't keep for long
- Play around until the arrangement looks balanced, and don't be afraid to place fruit upside down, the three pears inserted into this arrangement head first look great!
- Compliment your work of art with an elegant, fall-like table runner or even an oblong scarf, which is what I used here.
- A bit of shine or glitter (glittered balls shown here) is just the right final touch!
